John was born and raised in Salt Lake City, where he got a BSEE at the University of Utah in 1972. His career included engineering and project management for computer and medical companies, which also allowed him to travel internationally. There were always cats and dogs in his life, and that continues to the present.
When his neighbor, Dottie Weaver, became overwhelmed with the animal care and rescue efforts she started years ago, John helped Dottie set up Color-Country Animal Welfare (CCAW) as a nonprofit organization and began recruiting volunteers who also love animals. John serves on the TNR (Trap Neuter Return) committee for CCAW.
