Job Title: Animal Care Support

Job Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Overview: Our Animal Care Facility in Torrey, UT provides temporary shelter for found,
abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats with an aim toward suitable adoption, and it
also provides pet boarding, grooming, and dog care services to the public for a fee.

Job Summary: This position reports to the Facility Manager and includes, but is not
limited to, the following responsibilities:

● Helping check boarded and groomed animals in and out, noting important information
for other staff, and assisting with the care of rescued animals
● Assist in animal adoptions and foster opportunities
● Animal care including feeding, cleaning enclosures, overseeing play time, careful
monitoring of animals, safe practices for socializing and animal health, adhering to
policies including isolation of animals and medicine administration
● Following all policies and procedures, with continued training
● Operating shelter through appropriate phone etiquette, handling customer questions,
and utilizing boarding software, such as Gingr, ShelterLuv, and Google Drive
● Assisting in the visibility of adoptable animals, such as taking photos and encouraging
interaction with potential adopters
● Update and maintain website with relevant information, incorporating feedback from
Board members and staff
● Undergoing training on animal behavior assessment, daily animal care and cleaning
procedures; comfort with all types of animals is crucial

The following skills and qualifications are preferred:

● Familiarity with the humane handling of dogs and cats; simple dog training or ability to
read animal behavior is helpful, and comfort learning new skills is necessary
● Friendliness and strong customer relations
● This position involves lifting, bending, cleaning, and occasional carrying of items. Must
be willing and able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, early and late hours.
● Comfort using email, Google platforms such as Drive, Spreadsheets, and Zoom

Pay range: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour.

Job Title: Volunteer/Animal Care Coordinator
Job Status: Full time, hourly
Overview: Color Country Animal Welfare is a non-profit that provides temporary shelter for found, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats with an aim toward suitable adoption, while also providing pet boarding and dog care services to the public for a fee.
Job Description: In the capacity as Volunteer Coordinator, the candidate will create a competent and effective atmosphere where volunteers can assist in our mission, connecting on a personal level and teaching protocols as necessary. In their dual role as Animal Care Support, the candidate will report to, and assist the Facility Manager in the function of the facility and its animals, adhering to policies and procedures pertaining to animal care, following best practices, contributing to consistency for rescue animals in behavioral, food, medical and socialization guidelines. Maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for visitors and animals alike is integral to this role.
The position includes, but is not limited to:
▪️overseeing volunteers and assigning projects/tasks appropriate for their abilities
▪️helping organize, update, and maintain volunteer records, policies and procedures
▪️training new volunteers, and assisting in the maintenance of protocols, including risk mitigation and appropriate animal practices
▪️coordinating and communicating with foster families, boarded pets and their owners, potential adopters, customers, donors, and community members
▪️reaching out to community members for assistance in activities such as animal transport, fostering, events and more
competency with software such as Gingr, Google Drive, Spreadsheets, and Asana
▪️communicating expectations and limitations to community members and pointing them toward tiered resources
cleaning, organizing, and keeping a tidy workspace, making a good impression on visitors and donors alike
The following qualifications are required:
▪️familiarity with the humane handling of animals
ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, to remain flexible and creative, exercise initiative and good judgment, including the ability to handle problems of a sensitive nature
ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with a positive attitude
▪️familiarity with business software, volunteer management, and newsletters
▪️experience with public outreach, volunteer oversight and customer relations
Salary Range: $17 – $19 based on experience

Job Summary:  This position reports to the Facility Manager and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Animal care including feeding, cleaning enclosures, overseeing play time, careful monitoring of animals.
  • Operating shelter and boarding software and record keeping.
  • Training will be provided on animal behavior assessment, daily animal care and cleaning procedures.

  • Familiarity with the humane handling of dogs and cats; dog training skills.
  • Friendliness and strong customer relations skills.
  • This position involves lifting, bending, cleaning, and occasional carrying of items.  Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, early and late hours.
  • Computer skills.

Salary range: $17.00 to $18.50 per hour.  We have openings for year-round and seasonal work between 20 and 30 hours per week.
